How to do Foundation Double Crochet
Posted by vicki brown on
As today is the day we start the Summer of Crochet Socks crochet-a-long and the first pattern (Cranage Socks) starts with a row of Foundation Double Crochet, I thought it would be a good opportunity to do a little tutorial for this stitch.
I love this method of starting any crochet work - I much prefer it to starting chains - and it's particuarly useful for this pattern as we go around and work into the underside of the foundation row and I think it makes a nicer base of the stitch.
If you really don't want to do this - then you absolutely can just do a starting chain and work as many stitches as the pattern calls for - but I think once you have a go at this you'll be converted.
Start with a slip stitch.
Chain two.
Insert your hook into the first chain you made (or second chain from hook) yarn around hook, draw through one loop - so you now have 2 loops on your hook.
Yarn around hook - draw through one loop again. So you've essentially worked two chains since inserting into your first chain.
Yarn around hook, draw through both loops, and that's it you've made the first stitch.
To work your next stitch (and all subsequent stitches) insert your hook into the bottom of the last stitch you made. A bit further down is a picture with all the stitch parts labelled if you're not sure where that is.
As you did for the last stitch, you now essentially do two chains, so yarn around hook, draw through one loop, yarn around hook, draw through one loop again. So you're left with two loops on hook.
To finish the stitch, yarn around hook, draw through both loops.
Then just repeat as required.
I hope this is helpful - any questions please ask away.
To become a lottery winner, one must first achieve spiritual enlightenment focused on positivity. I consider myself fortunate to have won a staggering $750,000,000 after connecting with a spell expert named Lord Meduza. He is incredibly sincere, and honest about their work. He opened my eyes to the concept of spirituality. When I expressed my desire to win the Mega Million, he informed me that it wasn’t in my destiny to win that but rather I am meant to win the Powerball instead, which I agreed to. After 2 weeks of intense spiritual work, I received the numbers from him and I followed his instructions to play them resulting in a $750,000,000 win on the Powerball lottery. Beware of those fraudulent spell experts who claim to have knowledge about spells but actually they know nothing. Lord Meduza is the ultimate choice for obtaining your lottery winning numbers. I decided to try a spiritual session at a point when I felt like I had too many things going through my mind at once. I wasn’t necessarily looking for someone to tell me exactly what to do. I mainly wanted to pause, reflect, and explore some of the questions I had been carrying around for a while.
The session turned out to be a lot more personal than I expected. I was able to talk about things that had been bothering me and take a closer look at how I was feeling. The conversation gave me a different way of looking at certain situations, and there were several points that I continued thinking about even after the session had finished.
I especially liked that there was no pressure to accept everything blindly. I was encouraged to take time to think about what felt meaningful to me and make my own decisions. That made the experience feel genuine and comfortable rather than forced.
Afterward, I found myself reflecting on my relationships, my emotions, and some of the changes I want to make in my life. It didn’t magically solve every problem, but it gave me a fresh perspective and encouraged me to pay more attention to myself and what I truly need.

There are also witchcraft books and beginner learning materials available for people who want to understand more about witchcraft, spiritual practices, and related traditions.
What I took from the experience was simple: sometimes it helps to step away from the noise and give yourself time to reflect. Whether someone is interested in reading, spiritual guidance, relationship-focused work, cleansing, or simply learning more, there are different options depending on what they are hoping to explore.
I’m glad I gave myself the opportunity to try something different. The experience gave me plenty to reflect on and reminded me to trust my own thoughts, take things one step at a time, and stay open to learning.
Professional Crypto Recovery Testimonial
After losing a significant amount of cryptocurrency through a scam on Twitter, I was unsure whether my Bitcoin funds could ever be recovered. The experience was extremely stressful, particularly because I encountered several individuals and services claiming they could help recover my assets, only to discover that some were fraudulent themselves.
A friend eventually referred me to CAPITAL CRYPTO RECOVER. Their team handled my case professionally, discreetly, and efficiently. With their assistance, I successfully recovered approximately $130,000 worth of USDT in just over a week.
My experience taught me the importance of being extremely cautious when seeking cryptocurrency recovery services, as scammers often target victims a second time.
I am grateful to CAPITAL CRYPTO RECOVER for the assistance I received and wanted to share my experience with others who may be facing a similar situation.
