How to do Foundation Double Crochet
Posted by vicki brown on
As today is the day we start the Summer of Crochet Socks crochet-a-long and the first pattern (Cranage Socks) starts with a row of Foundation Double Crochet, I thought it would be a good opportunity to do a little tutorial for this stitch.
I love this method of starting any crochet work - I much prefer it to starting chains - and it's particuarly useful for this pattern as we go around and work into the underside of the foundation row and I think it makes a nicer base of the stitch.
If you really don't want to do this - then you absolutely can just do a starting chain and work as many stitches as the pattern calls for - but I think once you have a go at this you'll be converted.
Start with a slip stitch.
Chain two.
Insert your hook into the first chain you made (or second chain from hook) yarn around hook, draw through one loop - so you now have 2 loops on your hook.
Yarn around hook - draw through one loop again. So you've essentially worked two chains since inserting into your first chain.
Yarn around hook, draw through both loops, and that's it you've made the first stitch.
To work your next stitch (and all subsequent stitches) insert your hook into the bottom of the last stitch you made. A bit further down is a picture with all the stitch parts labelled if you're not sure where that is.
As you did for the last stitch, you now essentially do two chains, so yarn around hook, draw through one loop, yarn around hook, draw through one loop again. So you're left with two loops on hook.
To finish the stitch, yarn around hook, draw through both loops.
Then just repeat as required.
I hope this is helpful - any questions please ask away.

Best Cryptocurrency Recovery Experts | Visit Alpha Recovery Experts
I recently had an experience with ALPHA RECOVERY EXPERTS, and I have to say, they were incredibly helpful. After losing some of my cryptocurrency and NFTs, I felt really overwhelmed and uncertain about what to do. At the verge of giving up I came across numerous positive reviews about ALPHA RECOVERY EXPERTS online. Their compassionate approach made a huge difference, and they took the time to explain their recovery process step by step. The team began their investigation by analyzing blockchain transactions and tracing the stolen funds. It was a painstaking process that required advanced technical knowledge and an understanding of the cryptocurrency landscape. They kept me informed throughout the entire process, which was reassuring. In the end, I was able to recover a good portion of my lost funds, and I couldn’t be more grateful for their support. I would recommend Alpha Recovery Experts to anyone in need of assistance with crypto recovery.

I’ve been attempting to expand my wine business in my hometown in White Plains. For the past 7 years, I do play the lottery in my spare time, but on this blessed day I came across an article about Lord Meduza’s spell to win the lottery. I contacted Lord Meduza to see if it would work and after I agreed to his terms and conditions for completing the task for me, he performed his magical powers for me and within 48 hours, he provided me with the numbers I needed to play the lottery, and I followed his directions. I found out at the store that I was the winner of a $105 million jackpot. For a moment I felt uncertain but I looked again and I saw it was real. As I speak to you, My level has been elevated from grass to grace and I’ve come to know that life is more spiritual and with the Lord Meduza spell, you can actually win the lottery.
