How to do Foundation Double Crochet
Posted by vicki brown on
As today is the day we start the Summer of Crochet Socks crochet-a-long and the first pattern (Cranage Socks) starts with a row of Foundation Double Crochet, I thought it would be a good opportunity to do a little tutorial for this stitch.
I love this method of starting any crochet work - I much prefer it to starting chains - and it's particuarly useful for this pattern as we go around and work into the underside of the foundation row and I think it makes a nicer base of the stitch.
If you really don't want to do this - then you absolutely can just do a starting chain and work as many stitches as the pattern calls for - but I think once you have a go at this you'll be converted.
Start with a slip stitch.
Chain two.
Insert your hook into the first chain you made (or second chain from hook) yarn around hook, draw through one loop - so you now have 2 loops on your hook.
Yarn around hook - draw through one loop again. So you've essentially worked two chains since inserting into your first chain.
Yarn around hook, draw through both loops, and that's it you've made the first stitch.
To work your next stitch (and all subsequent stitches) insert your hook into the bottom of the last stitch you made. A bit further down is a picture with all the stitch parts labelled if you're not sure where that is.
As you did for the last stitch, you now essentially do two chains, so yarn around hook, draw through one loop, yarn around hook, draw through one loop again. So you're left with two loops on hook.
To finish the stitch, yarn around hook, draw through both loops.
Then just repeat as required.
I hope this is helpful - any questions please ask away.
To become a lottery winner, one must first achieve spiritual enlightenment focused on positivity. I consider myself fortunate to have won a staggering $750,000,000 after connecting with a spell expert named Lord Meduza. He is incredibly sincere, and honest about their work. He opened my eyes to the concept of spirituality. When I expressed my desire to win the Mega Million, he informed me that it wasn’t in my destiny to win that but rather I am meant to win the Powerball instead, which I agreed to. After 2 weeks of intense spiritual work, I received the numbers from him and I followed his instructions to play them resulting in a $750,000,000 win on the Powerball lottery. MY MIRACULOUS LOTTERY JOURNEY WITH LORD BUBUZA:
I had almost given up on my lottery dreams. I had played for years but the most I ever won was $20, $70, and $30. I often wondered if I would ever win the Jackpot. One night, while searching online, I came across testimonies from people who testified that Lord Bubuza had guided them in their lottery journey and he gave them the lottery winning numbers after casting a lottery spell. Their stories gave me hope, so I decided to contact him on WhatsApp: +1 (365) 808 5313. I explained how long I had been hoping for a major win. He gave me his guidance and instructions, which I followed carefully. I provided him with his requirement to cast the lottery spell and he gave me the lottery winning numbers, I bought the Powerball ticket for $2 dollars. When I checked my ticket, I was shocked by what I saw. I had won $574,000,000, I was overwhelmed with emotion. This experience is something I will never forget. Lord Bubuza is a God on Earth and his spell is Active. Contact him for help too via Email: Lordbubuzamiraclework@hotmail.com or WhatsApp: +1 (365) 808 5313
